The African Burial Ground

The African Burial Ground was a very touching place. The Burial Ground began in 1991 after the discovery of nearly 400 men and women in lower Manhattan . I was unable to go to the Burial Ground however I did do the alternative assignment presented to me by Dr. Williams and watched youtube videos on the exhibit. I did not know the fact that New York had the second largest enslaved population out of South Carolina during the American Revoultion and that the enslaved Africans built early New York City. I did not realize that underneath modern New York City is hundreds of Africans buried below. I hope to one day have the privilege of visiting this Burial Ground and checking it out for my own personal account.
